LCY Styles: Jess LC iPad Cases and Scarves

It's true! My brilliant and talented friend Jess Constable of Jess LC jewelry and handbag fame has done it again. Today she is debuting two new collections, The Quincy Collection, which includes leather iPad cases and coin purses, and the Belmont Collection, which includes silk scarves in four colors and two sizes.

I was honored when Jess asked me to style the photo shoots for her new look books and flabbergasted when she asked me to model. (You may recall I'm not the most comfortable in front of the camera.) But it helped having my main lady Danielle Moss behind the lens again since she knocked the Glitter Guide shoot out of the park. And when Jess suggested bringing in my friend Liz Schneider of Sequins and Stripes as a second model (whose wardrobe made my job much easier), the whole thing came together perfectly. Nine hours of four Chicago girls running around the city in sequins and sweaters on a sunny Saturday. I can't think of a better way to have spent the day. Tucker and Fiona even made it into a couple shots! I should really get them to some modeling auditions...

Congratulations, Jess, on two new gorgeous collections! That gold iPad case lined with pink is going to be on every woman's wishlist! Now I feel like I have to get an iPad just so I can use one of the beautiful cases.

On another note, my sincerest apologies for disappearing last week. I haven't been that sick in... I don't even know how long. It took four days of tea, soup, and sleep, but I think I've finally recovered. Thanks for hanging in there and being patient with me!

Well, rats.

So it turns out those posts about being overwhelmed and not wanting to get out of bed finally caught up to me. I have swollen glands and my throat appears to be caving in on itself. Rats.

I'll be following a very strict three-step program for the next 24 hours.

1. Scalding brothy soup
2. Steaming green tea with lemon
3. Sleep and more sleep
(repeat Steps 1-3 if necessary)

Because I love pulling on your heartstrings...

"I thought I understood it.
But I didn't. Not really.
I knew the smudgeness of it.
The eagerness of it.
The idea of it.
Of you and me."

Melt.
My.
Heart.

Are you crying yet? Because I did it. All three times I watched it.

If the trailer is any indication, Like Crazy is going to be one of those achingly beautiful and heart-wrenching films I can't help but want to see. This coming from a girl who only watches Nora Ephron films with happy endings. But there just seems to be something so simple and real about this story. There's something everyone can relate to... and anyone who has ever had to deal with a long-distance relationship... it's fair to say the airport scene at the 1:45 mark says it all.

And for those readers always looking for some new, good tunes, the songs from the trailer are below.

Styling with Color

When it comes to styling with color, nobody does it better than Kate Spade. Their 2011 Westward Campaign photographed by Koto Bolofo takes the fabulous fashion house outdoors, highlighting their sequined and leather bags among a sea of saturated greens, reds, and blues. It's a nice deviation from their usual, staged studio shoots. That sparkly duffle in the third photo might be the most fabulous thing I've seen in a while. Can you imagine cruising through airport security with that babe in tow? I believe the wise Fergalicious said it best when she said G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S.

This one goes out to all my ladies out there! Happy monday, ya'll.

Beds You Can Get Lost In

I love how the soft white bedding seems to engulf these beds, draping over the sides, waiting to scoop up whomever lays in them. I'm pretty certain if I were to hop in any of these right now, I'd get lost in a perfect slumber and no one would see me for days. Allergies + too much work + trying to cut back on my caffeine addiction = veeeeery sleepy Alaina. Fortunately, these 60 degree nights with a cool breeze coming through my window has me sleeping comfortably and calmly at night. But, oh how I can't wait to get under my scoochie down comforter again. All in good time...

For even more comfort, try a new Vi spring mattress that will really have you rushing to bed early for a great night's sleep! You can find Vi Spring products at And So To Bed

Happy weekend, all!

My Love Affair with Fall Runs Deep...

....mainly because of the clooooothes. The beautiful, beautiful layers of clothes. Scarves on top of blazers on top of sweaters on top of knit tee's. I've never been able to pull off the over-sized scarf look, but mark my words, I will be trying it this season. That and as I mentioned before, I'll be getting myself one fabulous hat. I believe Fall will then know how I truly feel about him. Actions speak louder than words, right?

On another note, check out this fabulous Tumblr of fashion images, Sierra Chantal. It's eye candy to the umpteenth degree and the source of all these beautiful photos.
