My Dream Couch

That's right. I've found the one. Don't get me wrong. Sure, I've mingled with other couches before. Ones I thought were good-looking, sophisticated, sleek. Who bought me a drink and told me I was cute. But this. This is true love.

The color - my favorite. The shape - feminine curves rounding out the edges. The cushions - well, there are no cushions, which means no misshaping when yours guests sit on the back cushions instead of against them (not that I have experience in this matter). Not to mention the perfect design of the room around this beautiful sunshiney creature. I've literally found my dream couch in my dream living room.

From now on, when anyone asks, "What's your style?" I will refer to this photo. Subtle grey walls - check. Art strewn about like it's nobody's business - check. Oversized, under-styled coffee table - check. Over-the-top lighting - check. Crown molding to make Queen Elizabeth jealous - check. Perfectly worn fireplace mantel - check. Abundance of daylight - check. I think you get the picture.

Of course, I delved into the interwebs for a little reconnaissance on where to find this rare unicorn. And I came up empty. Looks like this is a one-of-a-kind, custom job. The best ones always are.

This guy will do for now. Obviously, he lacks the curvature of my true love, but this style has been a long-time favorite of mine. And the color is perfect.

  3. I'm so happy to have found someone else who clearly has issues with the way people sit on her couch! Yeah! My hubby is my main target and thinks I'm crazy. Love your couch pic, it's the color of my foyer, stairwell and upstairs hallway! You have great taste. I enjoy your blog regularly.

  5. Alaina, I swear you and I are kindred interior design spirits! I have been in love with this couch and room for a long time! I believe the couch is the Sherlock Extended two seater sofa by George Sherlock. This is a link to the product: http://www.georgesherlock.com/product/Sherlock+Extended+two+seater+sofa

  6. What a beautiful room!

I fell in love with a chair that had very similar arms last week, and after hours (seriously, hours) of online research found out that they are called English Rolled arms...or Charles of London style. So, if you search for Tight back sofa with Charles of London arms you'll have some luck. Here are a few I found...

  8. this is my dream sofa too! i blogged it earlier this year (http://apartment-412.blogspot.com/2010/01/lusting-after-traditional-rolled-arm.html) :) Looooove the shape! jayson home and garden used to (up until about two months ago) carry one that looked exactly the same - but i no longer see it on the website :( Lee Industries also has something very similar.

I'm packing up my apartment now to get ready to move to india for a year - but when I'm back this is definitely the sofa I'm going to get!

  9. Restoration hardware has a version (on sale!):

I had the same problem with the back cushions on my sofa--only it was caused by my dogs, not people. Now I have a sofa without back cushions but with a spot just big enough for them to perch on, so we're all happy!
