my mom's been talking backsplash for her kitchen. how can she possibly go wrong with traditional subway tile with dark grout? sunday suppers just posted these photos and they perfectly depict this flawless look.
see?
just like the paris subway.
if you were to do white subway tile, would you do dark grout or white grout? do you think this look is overdone?
Hmmm....we are in the process of renovating the kitchen and are planning on white subway tile. That grout seems too dark to me, though, I think. Now you've got me thinking...
Hmmm...I doing white subway tile too in my recent kitchen reno. I have two minds about the grout...Dark makes it more graphic and prodomiant...White just fades away. I find sometimes that dark grout just looks dirty...perhaps muddles the crispness of the white? I dunno. I am on the fence about this one.
I just renovated my kitchen and did white subway tiles with a light/medium gray grout. I think it provides a nice medium between the two - not as graphic as a dark grout and you don't have to worry about marina sauce splatters like you would with white grout. As far as I'm concerned, the look is timeless.
I just love subway tile... we recently renovated our kitchen and did subway tile aligned instead of staggered for a modern twist on a classic. The grout we chose was grey... a perfect balance (in my book) between dark and white. Check out photos here:
Subway tile adds such a great texture to any room. I have actually never seen the dark grout before....but I love it! Usually I would say white, but now you have me pondering a bit...
Admittedly, I used to not be a fan of the dark grout. I mean, I didnt hate it or anything but I strongly preferred the white grout. Recently though I have seen plenty of inspirational images that conflict with that line of thinking. These images are stunning, and it does feel super parisian. Mama Kaz would do well with dark grout, I think ;).
I've done grey grout with white tile. Looks great No matter how much you seal it, white grout will always stain. I cook a lot and would be concerned for the area behind cook top.

ReplyDeleteI love the white tile, dark grout for sure :)
ReplyDeleteI love subway tile but I lean more towards the white grout. It is all a personal choice
