I am so thrilled with the response of this new series! You all voted last week for the Eames knock-off chair over the 4-in suede shoes. Touche, readers. Everyone's comments were honest and rational, sometimes the decision came down to taste and sometimes practicality. I think I now know where I stand and I have to agree with everyone who said they'd choose the chair.
Onto week 2, I am presenting two other items that I personally love and want. Now, I pinky swear not all fashion items in the fashion vs furnishings series will be from J.Crew, but as I mentioned last week, many of these are a personal debate I am facing, and most of my wardrobe comes from the Crew. Here it is.
$268
$59.00 each, would need 4, for a total of $236
THE CHALLENGE:
You have $270. Which do you buy?
New curtains or a new handbag?

Tough choice! I would say curtains, I don't mind having a cheaper bag, as long as my home is stellar!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend dear.
Ugh, always such a toss up for me too!! I want the Rhapsody Hobo (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/bags/PRDOVR~30512/30512.jsp), but taking a second look now at the Satchel, I think I could manage with that one as well! ;)
ReplyDeleteFor this particular instance, since I'm enamored with the hand bag myself, I'm going to have to say FASHION over furniture!
I would go with the bag, I think I may tire of the curtains over time.
ReplyDeleteThe bag fo sho. Vegetarians, PETA, and animal lovers alike may want to kill me for saying this... but there is nothing better than a nice, supple leather. That bag is a great color and it will last years.
ReplyDeleteBag! I would find cheaper curtains or make some. But unless you've got a genie stowed away there is only one way to acquire that bag.
ReplyDeleteI would have pegged myself as more of a fashion person, but last week I picked home, and this week too! I like the curtains.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the bag!!! It is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the curtains! Not only because they are aDORable, but because I always end up scratching, scuffing, or otherwise marking up my bags... I might just have a guilt-induced heart attack when I scuffed up a $270 bag. I've set myself a $50 limit for bags.
ReplyDeletelove it, great combo!
ReplyDeleteThis week the decision is MUCH MUCH harder!!! I love both, BUT will pick the bag because I'm not a huge fan of grommet top curtains.
ReplyDeleteYou already have several satchel but if you get the blinds I know I'll have to help put them out. Oh this is a lose-lose situation for me!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the beautiful panels - you can always find a bag you love even more than the last!
ReplyDeleteHow about ALVINE KOTTAR curtains from Ikea (they're similar to the West Elm) for $50/pair?
ReplyDeleteThen you can buy BOTH the curtains and bag!! woo woo!
Ugh - tough choice!
ReplyDeleteI love a good handbag but in this case I'd say the curtains. I know first hand how big of a difference curtains make to the overlook of a room - it's like a pair of earrings or jewellery...it really finishes off the space. Plus it's so hard to find curtains that are affordable and that you actually like.
The bag, while nice, will likely go on sale in the near future and you can get it then. And even if it doesn't it's much more likely you'll find another bag you like just as much in no time.
Definitely curtains.
The curtains for sure. They are georgeous. Wished I could buy them in France. But then again, we neither have J.Crew here.
ReplyDeleteWell since I don't NEED the drapes, I would go for the bag, how beautiful is that!?

The curtains will add a finishing touch to your home and make you happy everyday. My vote is the curtains. Wait for that bag to go on sale.
ReplyDeleteHard choice! Love the bag but im gonna go with the curtains.. Your home is more important. Unless your willing to look for something that's similar and cheaper.
ReplyDeletecurtains for sure! the bag looks like something my grandma has. keep it young and fun!
ReplyDeleteThere are similar curtains from Ballard that I've been eyeing, but looks like you found some less expensive, so I'd definitely choose the panels.
ReplyDeleteMy sister sent me a picture of those exact curtains tacked up to her wall to see if I like...I didn't. BAG FOR SURE! It's classic looking. Get me one too!. ha.
ReplyDeleteThe bag. No doubt. Unless you have no window treatments at all, because you don't mind to apply sunscreen at home until you find the perfect curtains and these are what you were looking for (true story, still looking for the perfect oneS.)I'm a bag gal, and this one looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe bag..the curtains may get old after awhile... :):)))))

I would go for the bag...it is timeless and roomy and gorgeous looking
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with the curtains on this one. I have a few great bags already, but have NO window coverings in my new house yet. Eek! Great curtains!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go with the curtains. I feel like you should love where you live & those curtains are pretty fantastic.
