Hollywood Heartbreak

With recent news of one shocking Hollywood breakup after the other (side note: Ryan Reynolds and Zac Efron both just became single), I'm reminded of this stunning photo shoot from the July 2005 issue of W Magazine. Brad Pitt codirected this lengthy photo series entitled Domestic Bliss. Photographed by Steven Klein, Pitt and Angelina Jolie portrayed a married couple with five children in the 1960s facing the demise of their seemingly perfect relationship. The bevy of children and the backyard snapshots are a bit eery if you ask me. If these two do eventually split up, I believe this would be one of the weirdest coincidences of life imitating art. Premonitory or not, this photo shoot is visually stunning, and I'd encourage you to check out the other dozen or so photos at W Magazine's website.

  3. I'd never seen this either, but it's a gorgeous photographic story. As a side note, can you imagine having FIVE boys?!

  4. I remember this shoot. While it is very well done, my first impression at the time was that it was a slap in the face & in poor taste. I mean, his divorce wasn't even final yet. But I'm sure it sold a lot of magazines.

  6. At first I thought you were saying that they had broken up!

These are amazing images, but I agree with Daine and Stephanie. I totally thought it was too soon when they first came out.

  7. I felt so bad for Jen with this photoshoot came out. I think a lot of celebrity couples do spend so much time apart (and playing make believe) that having a healthy relationship becomes really difficult.

Those who try to work it so only one person works at a time seem to be on the right track--at least to my mind, but what do I know?

  9. I felt sad for Jen when this photoshoot came out, too : ( It is definitely visually stunning, though.

And I can't believe the celeb breakups! I just want everyone to be happy, especially at the holidays.

  10. When I first saw this, I was creeped out and slightly offended by the timing. At a second glance, I'm still a little creeped out.
As far as being premonitory, I've found that with celebrities, hotness seems to be the main determinant in lasting marriages. These two might be the hottest. So, pretty sure they're going to last. (totally sarcastic, btw).

  11. I remember that shoot! I loved it. So stylish and sexy and kind of wrong.

  12. The shoot is creepy and way inappropriate given it was shot when Pitt had been single for ten seconds. Aniston was right when she called it inappropriate/insensitive.

  13. I've never seen these photos. Gorgeous. The scene is eerily remniscient of my own mother's family...5 kids, mid-century modern home, beautiful mother (as beautiful as Ms. Jolie herself). However, my grandfather was not nearly as handsome as Brad Pitt, and there marriage lasted. Interesting... Thx for sharing this.

  14. Questionable timing aside, the photos are still stunning. And those two are super hot.

  15. While it was a beautifull spread and I tried hard to get my hands on it (sold out), it was such bad timing and I'm sure crushed Jen. It will be interested to see if these two stick it out til the end.
