LCY Shops: West Elm Porcelain Kitchenware
It doesn't get much cuter than this porcelain kitchenware from West Elm. Replace those disposable paper and plastic containers with these longer-lasting and prettier porcelain lookalikes. A few of these items would also make a great gift to anyone who's starting out on their own and probably lives off actual paper plates. I'm guessing we all know someone like that (aka that was me last Christmas).

ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if you actually think the content on your blog fits the title of your blog. Are you seriously trying to suggest that to live creating yourself is to buy a bunch of crap and decorate (and redecorate once you are done with the first round and realize you have nothing to do with your time) your house, and make sure you have the cutest clothes and accessories?? So you create yourself by buying stuff? I find that really sad, considering to most people in this world, living creating yourself probably means trying to get enough money to put food on the table for their family. Or maybe it means trying to survive violent insurgents who rape women and children (google the Congo) or maybe it means trying to figure out how to keep your children from getting sick from dirty water or malaria. To most people, they don´t get to sit there and think how they can incorporate yellow or polka dots into the decor of their apartment. Most likely because they share a one bedroom house with their whole family, which is furnished in whatever the hell they can find or afford. And if they came across some extra money, it wouldn´t be to buy those to die for place mats...it would probably be to send their daughter to school or maybe buy some extra food. Maybe living creating yourself as a female in this world doesn´t means getting to go to school to study how to become a doctor or a teacher or start a microbusiness, something that is very difficult to ¨create¨in many parts of the world. I´m honestly just really saddened that your entire blog, career, and everything you care about, is something that 99% of the people in this world can´t afford, literally and figuratively, to wast a single brain cell thinking about. Have you ever considered how disgustingly lucky you are to be in a position to spend time doing talking about cute plates and tea pots and rugs? Maybe you should broaden your tiny world perspective a little to include some actually worthwhile creativity in your blog.

ReplyDeleteWell, I'd like to respond to these unfounded accusations but seeing as you were too embarrassed of what you had to say to even leave your name, I am skeptical of how productive any kind of dialogue can be. Next time you try and insult someone for their career choice, maybe you should do some research and actually learn what their career is. Like me, the supposed shallow and careless blogger who actually works full-time for a children's advocacy non-profit but also happens to have an appreciation for arts and design - whether it's in the form of home furnishings or "cute accessories," photography or graphic design.
Perhaps you can find a more effective means of educating people on these important issues. Last I checked bullying wasn't the best way to get your message across.

You translate as remarkably genuine, down-to-earth & sweet natured. I am sorry that someone feels the need to tear you down. ReplyDeleteI too am a frequent reader, but not so frequent commenter, and I just wanted to say that I thorougly enjoy reading your blog and I think it's ridiculous that someone actually spent the time to write that comment and then didn't even have the balls to leave their name. Pathetic. And probably entirely hypocritical. I don't understand why people feel the need to write negative comments on people's blogs. If you don't like it, move it. There are thousands of blogs on the Web to read that may better suit your interest. Ugh, some people. Keep doing what you do. And try not to let some pathetic anonymous person get to you.
