Because I couldn't bring you all with me on my amazing drive down California's Route 1, I thought I'd bring it back for you. This is a highly condensed photo montage of the trip (I am a camera-fanatic), starting in San Francisco and ending in Coronado. Enjoy!
Shortly after arriving in San Francisco, we ventured off into the city's many neighborhoods. We enjoyed wine and cheese at Bia's Restaurant & Wine Bar in the Haight Ashbury District.
Charming place
then strolled through Golden Gate Park for a bit
Sunday we were off to Sausalito's blue skies via the Golden Gate Bridge. On another note, how great is Nathan's messenger bag? I suggested he relinquish his JanSport backpack circa 1996 for the updated look. As always, thank you, J.Crew.
Best. Seafood. Ever. Scoma's in Sausalito. Make a reservation for a table by the window.
I just liked the way the light came through the bottles.
View of Alcatraz from the dock. Eerie.

Russian River Valley
Wine country half an hour north of Napa. A fraction of the cost.
Gorgeous house on a hill. Had to snap a photo.
The view we enjoyed while we picnicked at Arista Winery.
Back toward the city.

Ginormous jellyfish at the Monterey Aquarium
along the 17-Mile Pebble Beach drive
Pebble Beach
One monstrosity along the Pebble Beach drive. Yes. That is one house. And guest house to the left.
Another beauty.
Carmel Beach. Made me miss my dogs like crazy.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
Pfeiffer Beach - very excluded, hardly anyone was on it, absolutely gorgeous

My favorite view from Route 1
Typical view from Route 1. Not too shabby for Alaina.
Santa Barbara sunset as seen from Butterfly Beach
Sunning in Santa Barbara
There she is. The famous Hotel del Coronado. Apparently the number one wedding destination in America. Who knew?
Famous guests include Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis (both of whom filmed Some Like it Hot on the grounds) Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth, and Charles Lindbergh. And presidential guests include everyone from FDR to Kennedy to Obama. It was surreal walking the same halls as those historical figures.
Sunset aka the view from our balcony. Wishing I was still there...
The other view from our balcony.
The Del's Lobby - built in 1888.

J.Crew's most recent catalogue was shot on location in California's central coast. Here are a few images from their website.
...at Carmel Beach...
...and among the redwoods in the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.
It was such a great trip and you took awesome pics. The only thing that would've made it better would have been having the puppies. Other than that, it was perfect.
ReplyDeleteFabulous post- your pictures are excellent. I vacationed in Ojai/La Jolla last year with stops in Santa Barbara and Coronado, and seeing this post makes me want to go back! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip!
